A lot of people have probably done a guide on Hong Kong before and while I don’t claim to be an authority on the subject, many friends have asked me for recommendations. Probably because a) I used to visit Hong Kong once a month for work, b) 6 times for leisure in the past 3 years and c) have tons of friends/associates in Hong Kong who always bring me out for local entertainment.
Hong Kong is a country of mystery. I’ll be honest, I don’t really like it. Don’t get me wrong, Hong Kong has its merits: good shopping, fantastic dim sum, decent clubs and many outdoor activities. However, my ideal place for a holiday is somewhere relaxing and serene; That, Hong Kong is not. The people are perpetually hurrying, the service is curt and at times, bordering on rude and unless you’re willing to splash out, the shopping is not cheap. But it is, after all the Oriental Gem, the gateway to China and probably, the most metropolitan Asian city.
