Vogue 2010 October, Carey Mulligan

Old news but I’m still drawn to Carey Mulligan’s October 2010 Vogue cover. There’s just something ethereal about her. She has 2 blockbusters in these few months – Wall Street Never Sleeps and Never Let Me Go. I can’t wait to watch the latter, even though I’m hugely disappointed by Wall Street.

Grace Coddington is truly a fashion genius, her styling is impeccable! Photos taken by Peter Lindbergh.

Harvest Moon

Heard this song in Eat Pray Love. It was supposedly the song for Julia Robert’s wedding first dance. The lyrics are unsophisticated  but continually haunt me in its simplicity.  What a delightful song!

Come a little bit closer; Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin’; We could dream this night away.
But there’s a full moon risin’,  Let’s go dancin’ in the light
We know where the music’s playin’, Let’s go out and feel the night.

Because I’m still in love with you, I want to see you dance again
Because I’m still in love with you, On this harvest moon.
When we were strangers, I watched you from afar
When we were lovers, I loved you with all my heart

Dannii Minogue + J’aton = Couture Heaven

Cheryl, who?

Dannii Minogue (yes, Kylie’s younger sister!) trounced Cheryl in the style stake with this J’aton white lace piece that’s classy, edgy and sexy in equal parts. I love how she kept her makeup simple with a standout lip colour. Cheryl, on the other hand, bores me. Her dress is nice but nothing like the runway. Borrring!

Did I mention Dannii recently gave birth? Damn, girl looks hotter than hot!

My birthday

… is in 2 weeks and getting old scares me.

I feel as if I haven’t done enough in my life; I haven’t lived life off the edge. Have you?

How cute!

You Again Premiere – Odette Yustman

I was blown away the first time I saw Odette Yustman picture for the world premiere of You Again but i thought it was just a style crush. One week later, I still can’t forget how gorgeous the whole look is. So, here, better late than never!

She’s glowing in her J. Mendel dress! I hope she continues her style streak and wow us all again! :)

EMMANUELLE ALT

Fashion director of Paris’s Vogue magazine.

She has that cool, “I-just-threw-this-on” look down pat, don’t you think? I love how effortless she looks, wish I had her flair!

“Forget trendy designer labels. Jeans, a sweater or a t-shirt worn under a jacket that seems welded to you. When it’s just right, when you don’t see the effort, it’s irresistible.”

Mary Katrantzou Spring/Summer 2011

Mary Katrantzou Spring/Summer 2011 collection for the London Fashion Week had me pinin’. It was impossibly beautiful and creative. I think her collection are structurally innovative and yet gorgeous. Speaking of museum yesterday, I think these pieces deserve a place in the museum! ;)

I’d love to see Tilda Swinton rock these looks. Unconventional choice but she’ll break her usual monotonous look yet still has the edge to carry them off. Who will you choose to wear them?

Formula 1

Went to the biggest event in Singapore this September 2010 – Formula 1!  It was really awesome because,…

1) I had free tickets.
2) It was Turn 1 Grandstand tickets worth $1288!

It was an eventful F1 for me, although I went every day. We ran from Zone 1 to Zone 4, which I estimate to be about 3-4 km (because we took the longer route!). All for Daughtry. When we reached Padang, he was singing his last song. Grrrr. Walked back to watch the race, caught DIV4S which was beyond awesome. I am a fan of Opera now! Caught more of the race and rushed back for Adam Lambert – which was lousy I feel. He is flamboyant and had stage presence but the best thing about his concert was urm,… the gay kiss. Saucy!

All in all, a memorable fun night out! Didn’t take a proper outfit picture but here’s a dress from the shop! =)

Flight Facilities – Crave You ft. Giselle

Why can’t you want me like the other boys do?

They stare at me while I stare at you.

Why can’t I keep you safe as my own,

one moment I have you the next you are gone.

Rehearsed steps on an empty stage

that boys got my heart in a silver cage.

Why can’t you want me like the other boys do?

They stare at me while I crave you.

Easy A & Emma Stone

Emma Stone is a promising young star, no? Her style is top-notch, she just needs to have some confidence and posing lessons. Work the dress, girl!

She’s really pretty, has a strong intense beauty and I think, Easy A could be her breakout role ala Lindsay Lohan.

Easy A looks pretty awesome, it has Penn Badgley and Amanda Bynes. I am too old for a teenybopper romcom but hey, this looks fun. And, I’m madly in love with Emma’s voice. Sexy!

Watch the trailer below, what do you think? Mean girls repeat?

Save Me

You look like a perfect fit for a girl in need of a tourniquet
But can you save me; Come on and save me
If you could save me from the ranks of the freaks
Who suspect they could never love anyone

Cause I can tell; you know what it’s like
The long farewell of the hunger strike
You struck me dumb like radium
Like Peter Pan or Superman

Mad Men on Rolling Stones

Gorgeous spread that got everyone excited. I love, love, love Mad Men, although I haven’t been up to date. I love the costumes and the way the women at the era dresses – like all women should!

Christina Hendricks is one hot piece of ass (and boobs)!

Psst: I think they over-photoshopped Elisabeth Moss. How can she outdo Christina’s famous assets? Teehee!

Atelier Versace Fall 2010 collection

I hardly go wild about a single collection; usually, I’ll fall in love with a couple of looks and not think much of the rest. Most couture pieces are impractical, avant garde – a reason why we love them. Donatella Versace, in my opinion, has a struck that delicate balance between breathtaking and commercially viable.

The Atelier Versace Fall 2010 collection is absolutely mindblowing! It’s even better than the Spring 2010 collection which I am still in love with. The woman is amazing!

Are you in awe too?

One more week

… to the end of  Wonderwool‘s first giveaway !

Have you joined us as a fan, liked and commented on the photos? If you haven’t, do it now! :D

V Festival 2010

Since it’s Monday and we have to go back to the daily grind of lives (why are weekends always so short?!), let’s imagine we are celebrities rocking it out at the V Festival. Great music, lots of alcohol, neverending merry making and most of all, rockin’ festival style!

What a great turn-out, doncha’ think? It’s a huge coup for them to get A-lister Drew Barrymore and girls-of-the-moment Alexa Chung and Pixie Lott! If only, Singapore has such events!

To the more important issue – whose style will you like to copy? I feel Alexa, who’s my style crush (and everyone else’s, really!), slipped up. Drew Barrymore is lovely in that brown fringed beaded top, khaki green pants and boots. No wellies, yayyy! Major love for Drew!

For those who are not well-acquainted with the V-festival, it’s “an annual music festival held in the United Kingdom during the penultimate weekend in August… The event is held at two parks simultaneously which share the same bill; artists perform at one location on Saturday and then swap on Sunday. The sites are located at Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in South Staffordshire. Although predominantly a rock music festival, a wide range of musical genres are accepted; in recent years pop acts have become ever more common.”

Sing me a love lullaby

It’s a long weekend and I’m very glad that it’s only Saturday. I’ve been sleeping way past my bedtime. Partied with my close friends after catching The Vlee Conference on Thursday, had a steamboat for a housewarming and coffee on Friday and today, I’d like to curl up on my bed, catching up on lost sleep. I’ve prepared some books I’d like to complete before the end of year. Which reminds me of my 21 things to do before 2010 ends.

Do you make a ‘bucket list’ of sorts? If you do, will you share some with me? :)   Have a great weekend, sweethearts!
